In this article I am going to explain how to get backspin on your golf ball and the 5 things you must do in order to achieve this.

Knowing that the backspin imparted on your ball will either stop the ball very close to where it lands or spun it back towards the pin gives you the selfassurance to fire at or beyond the pin each time.

The five things you ought to do to get backspin on your shots:

1. You will have to have clean grooves on your golf clubs. This may seem gorgeous apparent but it is astounding how galore golfers do not clean or wipe their clubs after each shot. As the ball gets it is backspin from “climbing” up the face of the club it is of the utmost importance that the grooves, which grip the ball, are free from dirt. If clogged the grooves merely act as a smooth surface and no spun will be imparted.

2. Use a new and good quality ball. So ofttimes we tend to play with the same ball until it is either lost or so badly damaged that it is rendered unplayable. Golf balls alter reputation for the duration of the course of a round of golf. Professional golfers alter balls each three or four holes and, whilst this is a luxuriousness galore of us can not afford, using a good quality golf ball will improve your game. Soft covered golf balls, such as a balata, provide greatest or most complete or best possible spun characteristics.

3. At address place the ball in a position where it is more or less behind where the club will make contact with the ground – keep your hands more or less in front of the club. This allows the club to connect with the ball on the downswing creating a divot after you have struck the ball. This forces the ball either into the ground or to “climb” back along the club face over the grooves. As the ball cannot go into the ground it is forced to climb over the club face where the grooves grip the ball and invent the backspin. One of the reasons it is so difficult to get spun out of a fluffy lie is because hitting down on the ball allows the ball to go forward into the grass (rather than back over the grooves), and the grass getting among the grooves and the ball limits or negates backspin.

4. Accelerate through the ball with confidence. This is so important. So some amateurs decelerate before striking the ball. To get backspin you must have selfconfidence to commit to the shot. If you have chosen the best club for the job, if the club architect has done his job, your grooves are clean, you have a quality golf ball and you have placed the ball correctly at address you may launch into it with confidence.

5. And ultimately – Practice. It cannot be stressed how essential this is. So a heap of of us go to the driving range intent on “practicing” but land up lashing a bucket of balls as hard and as fast as we can. If you are a very good golfer a round of golf will take with regards to 72 shots and 4 hours to complete. Why then do we go to the range and belt 50 balls in 15 minutes? When practicing work on one thing at a time and if it is getting backspin then take your favourite iron, preferably a mid iron, and concentrate on connecting the ball at the right place in the swing arc. Once you have got it right with one club introduce the others, adjusting the ball position as necessary.

Getting backspin on your golf ball allows you, as a player, to attack the pin with confidence.

Crisp ball striking is a pre-requisite for getting back spun on your ball. The pros get backspin because their ball striking is so crisp and consistent. The mystery is to exercise the right things. How a heap of times do you see persons bashing at balls and everything they do just looks wrong, uncomfortable and inconsistent? Learn to strike the ball decently and then practice. You are not Tiger Woods. A simple golf swing means there is less that may go wrong.

Lost Balls and Other Bad Lies

WONDERFUL book for golfers… or as a gift to golfers. Photos are crisp and lovely, lies are unimaginable and even inconceivable! Makes those of us who do NOT play golf wonder why others do, and should make golfers offer prayers of thanks that they have never, never had shots to play like these…

Better than “How To Line Up Your 4th Putt”

Charlie Lindsay is an irreverant guy with an unfailing eye. He sees what others don’t and makes you grin for the joy of discovery he has had with his camera out in nature searching for the bizarre and wonderful on and around the golf course.

Be it a golf ball tucked neatly under a “meadow muffin” or a pair of golf shoes hanging from a tombstone, be prepared for a visual feast where golf and golf courses are the metaphor.

What a treat. What a great gift!! I’ve sent a dozen already and it’s early in the day.

Lost Balls- a great photgraphic journey

This book is perfect for the person who truely loves and understands the game of golf.
